Google now lets you chat with Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google is rolling out Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live, voice-first interfaces that let you talk to your productivity apps instead of tapping through menus and search bars, according to The Verge. Think of it as Gemini Live, but embedded directly into the tools you already use daily. You can ask Gmail to surface details from your inbox without scrolling through threads, or tell Keep to jot down a thought while you're driving.

The pitch is simple: conversational AI should meet you where the friction is highest, like when you're on the move or juggling multiple tasks. Instead of pulling out your phone, unlocking it, opening Gmail, and hunting for that one email about your kid's school event, you just ask. It's the same promise every voice assistant has made since Siri, but this time it's trained on your actual data and context.

The broader trend here is ambient productivity. Google isn't trying to replace your apps, it's trying to make interacting with them feel less like work.
